Phosphate iron is used as an additive for phosphorus elements in steelmaking and casting. When producing rolls, adding 0.4-0.5% phosphorus can improve their flowability and avoid surface cracks on the rolls. When producing high phosphorus wear-resistant cast iron, phosphorus forms a uniform eutectic structure in the casting, which can improve its wear resistance. Phosphorus can also improve and enhance the cutting performance of steel. The application of phosphorus iron in casting can improve the flowability of cast iron, thereby improving the quality of castings.
The production of ferrophosphate requires the use of a closed submerged Arc Furnace to avoid air leakage, as the by-product yellow phosphorus is obtained during the production of ferrophosphate. Yellow phosphorus escapes from the DC submerged arc furnace in the form of gas, and is then collected and refined by the purification system to obtain yellow phosphorus.
