Red mud is a polluting waste residue discharged after extracting alumina from bauxite. Due to the large amount of Fe2O3 present in red, it is commonly referred to as red mud. At present, red mud is mainly dumped into the sea and stored in dams internationally. However, due to its strong alkalinity and harmful substances such as heavy metals, red mud can cause serious pollution to the ecological environment. The places where red mud is piled up will not be suitable for any living organism to survive.
The red mud smelting DC Submerged Arc Furnace is a specialized equipment developed by our company for recovering iron from red mud, allowing red mud to be smelted in the furnace like iron ore. So as to alleviate the pollution problem of red mud. The ingredient method for ironmaking from red mud is the same as that for ironmaking from iron ore. Users need to adjust the ratio of reducing agent and flux based on the iron content of the raw materials. After the raw materials, reducing agents, and fluxes are pressed together, they can be directly fed into the furnace for smelting. Processing one ton of raw materials requires 900kW·h of electricity. It is also possible to use a rotary kiln for pre reduction before smelting in an DC submerged Arc Furnace , which can reduce power consumption by 400 degrees. The red mud treated by this method will no longer have strong alkalinity and can be directly buried or sold as water slag to cement plants.
Using this DC submerged arc furnace for harmless treatment of red mud can achieve zero emissions, making it a truly pollution-free environmental protection equipment.
