The smelting of metal silicon cutting mud is generally carried out using an intermediate frequency furnace or a dual electrode DC Submerged Arc Furnace. The yield of smelting metal silicon cutting mud using an intermediate frequency furnace is 70%. The recovery rate of smelting metal silicon cutting mud using a dual electrode DC submerged Arc Furnace is 95%. So we recommend using a dual electrode DC submerged arc furnace to smelt metal silicon cutting mud.
The specific smelting process is as follows:
1. Raw material preparation: Prepare the metal silicon cutting mud according to a certain ratio, usually including metal silicon cutting mud, coke, limestone, etc.
2. Feeding: Add the prepared raw materials to the smelting furnace in a certain proportion.
3. Heating: Start the electric furnace, apply electricity for heating, and gradually increase the temperature inside the furnace.
4. Melting: As the temperature increases, the raw materials begin to melt. Metal silicon cutting mud melts into liquid metal silicon at high temperatures.
5. Slag treatment: During the melting process, impurities and oxides in the metal silicon cutting mud will be adsorbed by limestone to form slag. The slag will float above the metal silicon cutting mud and be treated and removed through specific devices.
6. Discharge: After a certain period of smelting, the metal silicon cutting mud in the furnace reaches the required purity and composition requirements. Heating can be stopped and the metal silicon cutting mud can be removed from the furnace.
7. Cooling and solidification: The extracted metal silicon cutting mud will cool in the air and gradually solidify into blocks.

7.When an accident occurs in the smelting process and a power failure occurs for a period of time, an insulating hard shell will be formed on the surface of the molten liquid.
Facing this situation, the double electrode DC furnace can start arc smelting again by adding arc striking materials such as coke at the bottom of the electrode.
