This DC electric Arc Furnace can smelt various iron containing materials, such as iron oxide scale, steel slag, red mud, dust removal ash, gas cutting slag, and waste residue generated from copper and zinc smelting.

This DC electric arc furnace reduces power consumption by 15% compared to AC furnaces.

The DC electric arc furnace ironmaking is a process that uses electric arc heating to refine iron. It is a very common ironmaking method, especially suitable for recycling materials such as scrap steel and iron.
The basic principle of DC electric arc furnace ironmaking is to heat and melt iron ore and other raw materials through the high-temperature action of the arc, and then remove impurities through metallurgical reactions, ultimately obtaining pure iron.
The specific process is as follows:
Firstly, place iron ore and other raw materials (such as scrap steel, scrap iron, etc.) into the DC electric arc furnace.
2. An arc is generated inside the furnace through electrodes, and the high temperature of the arc heats the raw materials to a molten state.
At high temperatures, impurities in the raw materials will undergo metallurgical reactions, forming gases or oxides that are discharged from the furnace.
After a certain period of time and control, the impurities in the furnace gradually decrease and pure iron begins to form.
5. When the required purity of iron is reached, pour out the molten iron from the furnace.
The DC electric arc furnace ironmaking has the following advantages:
1. Recycling materials such as scrap steel and iron can be used for ironmaking, saving resources.
2. The temperature inside the furnace is high, the reaction speed is fast, and the ironmaking process is fast.
3. It can accurately control the temperature and reaction process inside the furnace, improving product quality.
Overall, the DC electric arc furnace ironmaking is a flexible and efficient ironmaking method, especially suitable for small ironmaking plants and the utilization of recycled materials.


Equipment characteristics

1.The power consumption is 10%~15% less than that of AC furnace.


2.The consumption of graphite electrode is 40% less than that of AC furnace.


3.Compared with AC furnace, it eliminates the investment of reactive power compensation device.


4.The noise level is 10~20 dB lower than AC furnace.


5.In the smelting process, metal ions in the melt will be concentrated around the negative electrode due to electrolysis, so as to improve the yield and purity of products, which is more conducive to the enrichment of precious metals and other high-value metals.


6.The current direction and electromagnetic field direction of DC furnace remain unchanged. Driven by the magnetic field, the molten slurry circulates in one direction all the time, forming electromagnetic stirring, so that the material melts without dead corners, the product quality is high, and the yield is high.


7.When an accident occurs in the smelting process and a power failure occurs for a period of time, an insulating hard shell will be formed on the surface of the molten liquid. 

Facing this situation, the double electrode DC furnace can start arc smelting again by adding arc striking materials such as coke at the bottom of the electrode.
