Silicon barium alloy has played a significant role in the steelmaking and casting industries, gradually developing into a widely used new type of composite deoxidizer and desulfurizer, and its application effect far exceeds that of various iron alloys used in the original deoxidation system. The application of barium containing ferroalloys in the casting industry has a greater effect. Production practice has shown that silicon barium ferroalloys can ensure high deformation stability and increase the duration of deformation effects by 1 to 2 times.
In recent years, silicon barium alloys and other materials have been applied in continuous steel casting. Due to the need for both deoxidation and insulation in this process, the amount of silicon barium series alloys used continues to increase.
After melting aluminum in a DC submerged Arc Furnace, high barium silicon barium alloy can be used to produce silicon aluminum barium iron alloy instead of pure aluminum for final deoxidation, thereby reducing the production cost of steelmaking and increasing the economic benefits of steel enterprises.
The main raw materials for smelting silicon barium alloys are silica, barium ore, and steel shavings. The reducing agent can use coke, or a small amount of bituminous coal can be added. According to the furnace conditions, a small amount of flux such as limestone, dolomite, fluorite, or iron phosphorus can be added.

Facing this situation, the double electrode DC furnace can start arc smelting again by adding arc striking materials such as coke at the bottom of the electrode.
